An older home can be bought up to date with new light fittings. When I look up at a ceiling with rows of halogen downlights I shudder at the waste of energy and the expense of the quarterly power bill.
Updating a fitting can be as simple as changing the globe, however with the heat put out by halogens sometimes the fittings are discoloured, almost burnt and it would look far better to just replace the old with new technology.
When a home is modernized it also adds to the value of the property so choosing the right light is also an investment, it can maximize the quality of your life whilst you live in your home plus it will add many dollars to the price you will achieve when you sell.
A good lighting plan not only encompasses the inside of a house but also the garden, terrace or pool area, especially these days when alfresco living is at the forefront of our busy lives.
